— HISTORY —

BEGINNINGS
J’azih Tia was not your average Seeker of the Sun Miqo’te. An exchange student of Sharlayan’s Studium at an early age, he grew quickly to admire and respect the local culture, rejecting and scorning the tribal norms of his people for a society he considered more “civilized”. While most Miqo’te within the city-state lived in such a way, to J’azih, his name was symbolic of something he never wanted to be; nor did he want to return to his own tribe, with ways he had come to think of as barbaric. When he met B’raemha Banhi, a fellow student whose family was native to Sharlayan, more civilized than tribal but still honoring their lineage with their names, he found she felt much the same way. To the displeasure of both of their parents, they changed their names upon their marriage, adopting the surname of a shared mentor and becoming Azih and Raemha Fhey.

Tajha Fhey was their daughter, born with dark purple hair and heterochromatic eyes that, by traditional Seeker beliefs, marked her for greatness. Her parents, of course, chose to subscribe to that one belief in particular, even though they refused to name her part of either of their birth tribes or tattoo her face in the way theirs were. They talked to everyone they knew of how important she was to be, how she would change the world just by living in it.

They were to be disappointed, however. As expected of all who knew her parents or had heard their stories, the girl was naturally talented, her professors at the Studium noting her incredible skill in the healing and alchemical arts… but she wasn’t a great student. Far too many times she was found wandering alone into Labyrinthos during a class she should have been attending, studying maps instead of her textbooks, and basically trying to find any way she could to have an adventure. She told her parents constantly that she wanted to see the world, to have an adventure, to help people with the skills she had learned thus far.

Her parents were having none of it, and when she was 16, soon to be of age, they gave her an ultimatum: become a proper member of society and stop living in faerie tales, or leave on her adventures and no longer be a part of their family; essentially disowning her. And it should have been a hard choice, but from a young age the girl had been pulled toward adventure… So, that same night she packed a small bag and got on the next merchant boat that would take her, with no idea whatsoever where she would wind up.

She wondered only once if she’d made a choice she would regret: some fifty-odd hours later, lying half-conscious on the beach of a small island, the midday sun burning her salt-crusted skin, her lungs and stomach heaving as she coughed water, the ship and its owner lost to the storm that had fallen upon them. And it might have been the last regret she’d lived to have, had it not been for a grizzled old Miqo’te fisherman who came across her on his walk home from the small village a ways off where he sold his fish and traded for supplies.

He was a former nunh, she learned a few days later, when she finally reached full consciousness. Mhasi, of the Y tribe, although it had been quite a long time since he’d lived with anyone else. He had lavender hair and tattoos on his cheeks marking his tribal affiliation – and he was shocked to hear that for she for her part had none of which she was aware. From that day, he took her in, teaching her to defend herself; she learned to forage, to hunt small game with a bow and arrow and cook the food the two of them brought in; as she became healthier and stronger, she was even able to travel around the island, exploring the nearby wilds and helping the locals of the nearby villages.

When Mhasi died, he left all of his meager possessions to her. Tajha used the small amount of money he had to buy a Fantasia potion from a traveling merchant in order to permanently change her hair color in his honor; to get her face tattooed with his tribal marks; and to buy a ticket to Eorzea, because strange visions in her dreams kept telling her that she needed to go there.

When she arrived a few weeks later in Ul’dah, intent on studying the art of pugilism (it was as far removed from the scholarly nature of Sharlayan that she could get), she registered herself officially with the adventurer’s guild under a new name: Y’tajha Mhasi.
— PERSONALITY —

A stoic, near-silent figure of strength to those she doesn't know well, always ready to help those in need, Y'tajha's true personality shines through with those closest to her. She is warm and friendly with a playful, snarky side. She isn't easy to irritate, but provoking her to anger is dangerous.

She feels deeply for all people and creatures, and her love for her friends and comrades is palpable. In times of sadness, she tries her best to keep a strong façade up for the sake of others, grieving privately later on. She will do whatever it takes in order to keep those she loves safe, even if it means sacrificing her own life. She wears the losses of friends heavily on her shoulders, and will carry them in her memories always.

On the battlefield, Y'tajha is serious and focused, putting all of her energy into the fight.
— ABILITIES —

BLESSING OF LIGHT
Y'tajha possesses the Blessing of Light, granted to her by Hydaelyn for her efforts in reclaiming the crystals of light. It increases her overall strength and aptitude in the fighting and arcane arts.

THE ECHO
Y'tajha is a user of the Echo, a psychic ability that grants her the ability to read the souls of others, seeing the imprints of their memories or their intentions. She is also able to use this ability in battle, where it gives her a glimpse of how her opponents and allies intend to strike. It also grants her panlingualism, allowing her to both understand and communicate in language concepts in such a way that anyone will understand her. Finally, it provides mental/soul armor against external interference such as enthrallment.

BLESSING OF THE KOJIN
Y'tajha was blessed by the kojin Soroban with the ability to breathe underwater.

SOUL CRYSTALS
Like all in Eorzea, Y'tajha is able to use Soul Crystals, crystallized aether shards that contain the memories and attributes of their former users. These crystals allow the holder to more easily understand a particular discipline. Due to her Echo, Y'tajha's mastery of these crystals comes easily, and unlike many users who can carry only one crystal at a time, she can carry as many as she deems necessary, and switch between them at will. Some "fit" more than others, though, and she tends to prefer those more than others.

ASTROLOGIAN
Obtained while studying at the Studium.
Astrologians utilize ornamented planispheres and divining decks in battle. Attuning to the aetherial energies of the cosmos, they are able to skew fate favorably in their allies' direction, allowing them to heal sustained injuries while also inflicting damage on their enemies.

DARK KNIGHT
Obtained after Haurchefant's death.
Dark Knights wield greatswords in battle. Channeling the power of Darkness into their weapon allows them to tap into a darker, angrier side of themselves, using that energy to defeat enemies while also protecting those around them.

DANCER
Obtained after Y'tajha's sojourn to the First.
Dancers wield chakrams and similar throwing weapons in battle. Dancing the Kriegstanz, an ancient dance of war, they bring the pain to their enemies while also offering succor to their allies and those in need of peace.

TRAVELER
A gift from the departed Emet-Selch.
While holding Azem's crystal, Y'tajha can use its power to summon allies to her side.
